About Us

Founded in 1997 in the state of New Jersey, Baitul Hamd Institute is a center of knowledge where the practice of Islamic principles is given the highest importance. Baitul Hamd embarked on a steady and successful expansion, establishing its new location in East Elmhurst, New York. Alḥamdulillāh, Baitul Hamd is one of the most rigorous institutions in the United States. Added to the compassion of our teachers, our curriculum and methodology focuses on the enhancement of the intellectual abilities and contributions of students. Baitul Hamd is considered to be one of the oldest Qurʾānic institutions in the Western world. Its reputation for outstanding Qurʾānic recitation and academic rigor is known state-wide and reflects the achievements of its students as well as the teachers’ commitment to attain the best performance in the recitation of the Qurʾān.

Our students are excelling in the Islamic studies and learning the qualities of a true Muslim believer. This is mainly due to the compassionate teachers in Baitul Hamd. They have created a loving environment in which the students feel comfortable and happy to study. In addition, we have worked hard to structure our academic curriculum so it can compare with state-standards and produce excelling students. Fully qualified and certified teachers conduct all the courses. All thanks are due to Allāh who has purified and made this an excellent environment according to the Sunnah for our future generations. By the grace of Allāh, in this short period of time, we have made many promising achievements.

Our Methodology

We see students as individuals with differing needs and strengths. Our aim is to improve and support all students and help them achieve their full potential. We have high but realistic expectations. We encourage students to give their best and appreciate what they can do well. We work to give students a comprehensive foundation in knowledge (ʿilm) and to develop a lively interest on their quest in becoming a pious, educated and productive Muslim. Most importantly, we look to bridge the gap between knowledge and action for the sake of Allāh that will remain with them throughout their life.

As one can see, Baitul Hamd Institute expects and encourages nothing but excellence from its students. We strive to produce Islamic scholars who are God-fearing, knowledgeable, well-versed with the teachings of the Qurʾān and Sunnah and other qualities which are essential for any enlightened Muslim. We encourage them to be leaders and role models for humankind, Muslims and non-Muslims. This is what we are about. We stress the importance of humility and proper Islamic conduct where the student’s actions would be a cause of positive change for others.

Our Promise

Of course, the environment today is, however, very different from what it was 200, 100 or even 50 years ago. It is difficult for everyone to attain proper knowledge and pass it on to one’s progeny without having to spend an adequate amount of time learning the complete message and philosophy of Islam. This is why we have made it our duty before Allāh. We promise to offer students the best Islamic education that we can while maintaining a clean environment that encourages the practice of Islām. We take this duty seriously and are constantly extending our own expertise and knowledge of education so that we can help students prepare for the future. We want our students to have high self-esteem, be knowledgeable, be well-mannered and happy, and develop confidence in themselves and their abilities. This will enable them to learn to be a true example of a Muslim who is guided by Allāh’s light. They will be able to handle new situations and accept the challenges that life has to offer by living a life in accordance to the Qurʾān and the Sunnah—the only way to attain the success of this life and the Hereafter.
